Welcome to the 2021 update of the Accreditation Network UK website. Since the last update over a year ago, there's been a review for the ANUK/Unipol National Code for Non-Educational Establishments, an investigation into new and late student accommodation developments, and a global pandemic.
We've put together a few updates to note from the past year:
COVID 19 GUIDANCE FROM THE ANUK/UNIPOL NATIONAL CODE
The National Code has been releasing guidance for accommodation providers in line with Government updates, to make the Governement guidance more accessible and relateable to the sector. The guidance is revised in line with the latest advice from the Government, and can be accessed on the National Code website.
ANUK WEBSITE UPDATES
Over the past few months the ANUK website has undergone a number of updates, with extensive changes being made to the Schemes Near You page. There have been a number of additions with new schemes that have been developed, and the links/contact details for many also being amended.
REVIEW OF THE ANUK/UNIPOL PRIVATE SECTOR CODE
The Code is reviewed every three years and changes are made to keep the Code in line with legislative or regulatory changes, to enhance clarity in the wording or to introduce new areas in order to keep the Code up-to-date and fresh.
As the review process has been delayed by the Coronavirus pandemic, the work on a fully revised Code has not yet been completed. The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) has also indicated that it wishes to update the aspects of the Code that are Government approved and that this will not be possible until the middle of 2021.
In light of this only a few changes were made to the Code for January 2021, with the main change being the addition of the section on Health and Wellbeing. Further information on these changes and the updated versions of the Code can be found on the National Code website.
